If you're new to education data, these national sources cover most first projects. Several share NCES school, district, or institution IDs, so they can be linked to each other.

Search by name, description, or topic, and narrow by filter. The address bar updates as you filter, so you can share a filtered view.

    By state

State education agencies publish most school- and district-level data. Pick a state to see its sources in the list above. Grayed-out states have nothing listed yet; suggestions are welcome.

    Learning resources

Not data, but useful for working with it: free textbooks, course materials, coding guides, and podcasts on quantitative methods.

    About this list

What's included. Sources whose data are free to download or free to request, plus a few that need an application (marked "Application or restricted"). Descriptions in quotation marks are from the publisher.

How it's kept current. Every link is checked automatically, and moved or broken links are fixed by hand. Each entry also has an "archived" link to the Internet Archive's most recent copy, in case a page moves or goes offline.

Caveats. Access rules and units of analysis were recorded from each source's main page and can change; check the source's documentation before you plan around them.
